Oh! So I'm Suppose to have ALL THE ANSWERS?!

Just before starting this program, I, like many who searched, wanted to find that perfect communication program. As I searched, I researched and analyzed a variety of programs. I looked at their curriculum, prestige, financial obligations, among other things.

In my search, I stumbled upon a school, which I will let it remain nameless (contact me if you want to know :). This school made me quite nervous! Why? Well I remember these words verbatim, which gave me feelings of uneasiness. "When you go for your Masters you must know exactly what you want to do in life." In hearing these words, I immediately became nervous! I went to undergraduate school for communication. So, I had an idea. I knew that I wanted to be a communication practitioner in this industry, but to pinpoint exactly where I wanted to go, I cannot tell you that I did know.

When entering this program, I found that I wasn't alone. The myth that EVERYONE knows where and what they will be doing when getting into a graduate program, is simply not always the case. There are those who of course who do know and want to obtain a graduate degree to improve their skills or move up in their current careers, yet some do not know. I am one of those individuals. I have ideas and industries that I could really see myself in, however, I am not 100% certain.

I can say, that this program has provided me the tools, to become closer in narrowing that down. I am in classes (Global Communication in the Workplace, Change Management, Leadership and Decision Making, Marketing), which I feel has had a great impact on my decisions. I'm seeing that I want to be at the helm of a company dealing with both internal and external communications. This program is not designed for you to choose immediately where you want to go. But instead, it offers you invaluable skills to succeed wholeheartedly in the global market place. ***Notice that I didn't say a specific industry, but the GLOBAL MARKET PLACE. Taught by world-class professors, the skills here are designed to be applied in any viable industry!

...Just remember you're not alone in being confused. Coming here will make the career questions a lot easier!
