When I just received the email from MSC office informing that I was accepted to the program, I talk to a friend of my who was living in Virginia and let her know that I would be going to Chicago the coming September. I imagined that she would be very happy for me since Northwestern is one of the top schools in the US but she was not. Instead, she was very worried for me and said: “Don't you know what people say about that city on the shore of Lake Michigan? It's windy city and it is one of the coldest place here. Even when I have been living here, in a cold place like Virginia for more than ten years, I still not dare living in that city!” Ok, that was such a good way to say congratulation and I must confessed that I was scared somehow hearing what she said. But well, now that I am in the middle of winter and facing with the truth about what I have always been told about. What I could say is that, it is not that bad, as long as we prepare ourselves with enough warm stuff. In addition, on the days that temperature is so low like single digit, the school also provides two extra frostbite shuttles that go around the common points on campus so we don't really have to walk too much outside. Thus, for those who are thinking about going to northwestern but are worried about the weather here like I was, be brave! The value of what we will get is worth for us to face this little difficulty.
